My Friend’s Place
My Friend’s Place offers comprehensive services to 1,000 unhoused young people between the ages of 12 and 25, and their children, each year, out of our dynamic resource center in Hollywood.
The mission of My Friend's Place is to assist and
inspire homeless youth to build self-sufficient lives.
The staff here have allowed me to open up and they’ve been able to help me cope. I’ve never really had anyone in my life as supportive as they are. When I come back and see these people that work here, it kind of feels like a blessing. Now, when I go to sleep at night, I know that if I need a person to rely on the following day, My Friend’s Place will be there.
When I think of My Friend's Place, I think of the true meaning of friendship. MFP continuously shows up during young peoples' challenging and exciting times. It’s a place where youth find acceptance, encouragement, empowerment and alliance. It’s a place where youth can be creative, work and chill in a safe environment.
One of the special things about My Friend’s Place is the lasting and meaningful relationships that young people form with staff here. Knowing that there is a person or a group of people who make you feel accepted, valued and uplifted is what gives a young person a sense of belonging and hope for the future.
For decades now, My Friend's Place has been steadfast in serving our city's young people experiencing homelessness, welcoming them with open arms during times of crisis, vulnerability and need. I have seen firsthand the impact that MFP's support has had on countless young lives, not to mention the positive contributions MFP makes toward ensuring a safer, healthier neighborhood for all community stakeholders. The work performed by My Friend's Place is an essential service, led by an extraordinarily caring and compassionate group of staff and volunteers.
