  • The devastating impact of systemic injustice and institutionalized racism can no longer be denied, ignored or excused

Like so many of you, we are outraged by the continued racism and violence affecting black people here in Los Angeles and across the country. My Friend’s Place stands in solidarity with Black Lives Matter and all who engage in the peaceful rebellion seeking an end to violence, systemic and institutionalized racism and widespread inequities that leave us a weaker, less humane nation.

2019 was our most successful Giving Tuesday ever, and it wouldn't have been possible without you! In just one day, you helped us raise more than $40,000 toward Housing Case Management for youth at My Friend's Place, which allowed us to secure $75,000 in matching funds from our foundation partner, amounting to more than $150,000 in support for youth experiencing homelessness.

  • Etoyce's Story

I’m originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, and I came to Los Angeles with a friend when I was 22 years old. Unfortunately, that friend gave me some misleading information about where we would be staying and what our next steps were. We ended up on the streets, which I wasn’t prepared for. At the time, I was suffering from depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. That was my first real experience with what it truly felt like to be homeless. In my family, we had been in between houses and couch-hopped but in my adulthood, I had never experienced what that was like. I was really at the end of my rope, feeling very down and hopeless—and then I found out I was pregnant. It felt like my whole world started shattering down around me.

  • DOUBLE Your Investment In Housing Support For Homeless Youth!

Right now, your gift of support for our housing case management program can bring twice the opportunities to young people and do even more to support their journeys toward housing and a permanent exit from homelessness.
