A Note From Board Co-President Cheryl L. Hayward

Lexi’s incredible story resonates with me. Over thirty years ago, I was a young mother experiencing homelessness. Although it was only a moment in my life, the memory has crystalized my passion to support the amazing work at My Friend’s Place.

Today, Lexi and I both serve as advocates for youth on the My Friend’s Place Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee. I am deeply humbled by this full circle of success that brings the two of us together.

When I hear the song “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Simon & Garfunkel, I think of the heart of My Friend’s Place and the genuine connection with youth experiencing homelessness. My Friend’s Place provides comfort and support so that these young people can shine and fulfill their dreams.

Your investment in My Friend’s Place will make more youth success stories possible, especially this month while we have the opportunity to triple match every donation, up to $250,000. Like me, you believe in the power of our youth and invest in their futures so that, no matter the systems that have failed them, or the traumas they have experienced in the past, they can find the care, healing and connection they need here at My Friend’s Place.

With your support, we can continue to build a community together in which every young person experiencing homelessness has the opportunity and support to become their own success story.

In Community,
Cheryl L. Hayward
